Mississauga introduces new Tree Permit Bylaw

If homeowners and businesses have considered plans to add any tree removal services to their spring cleaning efforts, they should be aware of the new Mississauga Tree Permit bylaw effective March 1, 2013. The new bylaw has changed the number of trees allowed to be removed without requiring a permit from four to two. 3 or more trees over 15 cm require a permit and 3 or more dead, dying or hazardous trees over 15 cm (6 in) in diameter will also require a permit. The new bylaw, and the ensuing details, can be found here.

If you are a home or business owner who is looking to remove a tree, build a house or add an addition, insert a pool, landscape for aesthetic purposes or implement some other type of construction activity of that nature, you will usually require tree preservation plans and/or a tree cutting permit to injure or remove the trees. It is important to remember that tree removal requires the necessary documentation to be filled out and filed within your city in order to avoid large fines. Rooted Tree Services’ team provides all necessary documentation for you and will deal specifically with the city on your behalf. Reports typically required and managed by our staff of arborists include: tree permits, tree inventories, tree assessments, tree valuations and tree preservation plans.

Always remember to consult your city’s tree removal bylaws and obtain the proper tree removal permits before you start planning your post winter outdoor spring cleaning!

Or, even better, contact one of our insured, bonded and qualified staff to receive a free quote and consultation where we can take care of all of the work for you. While our crews are working diligently on your behalf, you are free to plan your new addition, pool or beautifully landscaped backyard.
